Rachael Susman

Violin Soloist, Beaverton Symphony Spring Concert

Rachael began playing the violin at the age of eight through an elementary school music program in Newark, Delaware.  In high school, she studied with noted teacher Sylvia Ahramjian, who insisted that all her violin students learn the viola.  The additional instrument gave her more opportunities to play chamber music, one of her favorite activities.  In Portland, Rachael has found a musical mentor in Catherine Noll.  She has been a member of the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra for many years, and has served as concertmaster for the last four years.  She has a regular quartet with other orchestra members, and enjoys performing for a wide variety of functions.  She also serves on the BSO Board.  When she isn’t playing music, Rachael enjoys volunteering in the Beaverton schools and spending time with her husband and two children.  She is grateful for their support in her musical endeavors.
