Meet Our Featured Soloists for the Winter Concert

cafferky.hs.jpgLindsey Cafferky McMahon, soprano, is a native of Portland, Oregon. The past three seasons, Lindsey has been the soprano soloist with Bravo! Vancouver performing Handel’s Messiah, John Rutter’s Requiem, Poulenc’s Gloria, Brubeck’s To Hope: A Celebration, and Bernstein’s Mass. Last season, Lindsey was the soloist with Big Horn Brass performing holiday favorites. Past performances include the Faure Requiem and Haydn Paukenmesse with First Congregational United Church of Christ, Orff’s Carmina Burana with Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Oregon Chorale and Haydn’s Creation with Sunnyside Symphony Orchestra. Operatic performances include the role of Venus in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld and Papagena in Mozart’s Magic Flute with Eugene Opera, Anne Page in Nicolai’s Merry Wives of Windsor with Rogue Opera, and Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel with Portland Opera’s Educational Outreach Program Opera to Go. Lindsey received her Masters in Music from the University of Michigan as a student of Carmen Pelton and Martin Katz. She received her Bachelors of Music and Bachelor of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University as a student of Mira Frohnmeyer. 

Guillory.hs.jpgTenor Brennen Guillory has appeared on the opera stage in a variety of roles over the years from Carmen to Susannah, from Fidelio to La Traviata, but it is in the concert hall that he has focused his efforts since becoming a pastor in 2006. Since returning to the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Guillory has appeared with companies such as Eugene Opera, Vancouver Symphony, Rose City Chamber Orchestra, Willamette Concert Opera, and is a guest artist with the Rose City International Conductor's Workshop. With them he has performed diverse works including Das Lied von der Erde, Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Fidelio, Massenet's Griselidis, Bach's St. Matthew Passion, as well as concert excerpts from Il Trovatore, Carmen, Turandot, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Aida and Otello. With the Eugene Concert Choir he has performed Mozart's Coronation Mass, Mendelssohn's Die Erste Walpurgisnacht, also with the Eugene Ballet, and was also featured in their Holiday Concert. In 2010 he traveled to the UK to perform and record Das Lied von der Erde with the Orchestra of the Swan in Stratford under conductor Kenneth Woods. Last season Mr. Guillory performed with the Toronto Symphonia and he will be appearing later this season with the Fairfax Symphony singing a program of Verdi and Wagner.

hamilton.hs.jpgKathryn Alexis Hamilton, mezzo-soprano, has long been a favorite throughout Oregon and Southern Washington. Most recently, Alexis was seen as the alto soloist in Handel’s Israel in Egypt for Bravo! Vancouver. Her concert and oratorio work in the region is extensive and she has appeared with the Columbia Symphony, Bravo! Vancouver, Rose City Orchestra, Sunnyside Orchestra, and Oregon East Symphony. Alexis is often seen in Gilbert and Sullivan operetta and is a veteran of Mock’s Crest Productions. Among her myriad roles for this company are Lady Jane, The Fairy Queen, Katisha, Prince Orlofsky, The Duchess, Mad Margaret, Buttercup, and Mrs. Page. In addition to her many ties to operetta, Alexis has worked with Portland Opera as Mrs. Herring in Albert Herring, Maddelena in The Journey to Reims, and the Forester’s Wife in The Cunning Little Vixen.   Alexis is currently the Manager of Education & Outreach for the Portland Opera where she is responsible for bring opera to communities throughout Oregon and SW Washington.
